Winter Pops:
American Swing
Feat. Vocalists Michael Andrew & Gunhild Carling
Saturday, January 28 2023
Sweden’s Queen of Swing, Gunhild Carling, joins vocalist Michael Andrew, former headliner at New York City’s Rainbow Room, for an evening featuring favorites from The Great American Songbook.
Whether Gunhild is singing favorite swinging jazz standards, playing one of many instruments (trumpet, trombone, harmonica, oboe, harp, flute, recorder, or jazz bagpipe!) or juggling and tap dancing, her sublime showmanship will shine. And just wait for the finale — spoiler alert — she plays three trumpets at once!
Andrew has produced music for several films including 11 songs for the Aaron Sorkin biopic, “Being the Ricardos” including, the “I Love Lucy” theme song and “Babalu.” For two years, Andrew was the headline singer and bandleader at the world-famous Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center. This dynamic duo will bring iconic tunes to life in an unforgettable night filled with historic glamor, dazzling charm, and astonishing new talent!
Meridian sounds jazzy!
This concert will take place at the MSU Riley Center and will begin at 7PM.
